Representation is the way certain aspects of life, places or people are presented to us via the signs and symbols used in the media. These signs and symbols are called 'Media Language'. Representation can be thought of as re-presenting the media as they never show us reality, even in non fiction formats such as documentary, news. Instead the Media producers re-present a version of it using media language to 'construct' it.
Ideology means messages and values. Analaysing ideologies in a media text means you are looking for these messages and values and discussing how they have been communicated.
